Dialogue Comprehension — Peter & Alice

Listen to the whole dialogue. Then answer the questions. The questions are short and do not give away the story, so you must really listen to what Peter and Alice say and what the situation is.

  • First, listen once without answering.
  • Then listen again and choose the best option in English.
  • Some questions are about basic facts: who is ill, what each person wants to do, and who Henri is.

1. At the beginning, what does Peter notice?

2. What illness does Alice first think she has?

3. What does Peter think it really is?

4. How does Alice feel physically at that moment?

5. What does Peter want Alice to do about the doctor?

6. Why does Alice say it is difficult to see the doctor this morning?

7. What does Peter say Alice should think about “now and then”?

8. Alice says Peter himself “ought to go to the doctor”. Why?

9. Where does Alice think she can find the doctor’s phone number?

10. Why doesn’t Alice want to go to the doctor right now?

11. Who is Henri?

12. What does Alice expect Henri to be able to do?
